| The Drava River is the major source of hydroelectric power in Slovenia. There are eight large hydroelectric plants in the Slovenian Drava cascade; all are owned and operated by the Dravske Elektrarne power company.
At average flow, the Drava cascade of power plants can produce more than 2.5 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per year; the Drava cascade covers about 37 % of the country's total summer electricity demand and about 20 % of the winter demand.
Voith Siemens Hydro has supplied units for three of the eight cascade power plants:
- Mariborski Otok:
3 generators with a rated capacity of 26 MVA and static excitation systems
- Dravograd:
3 generators with a rated capacity of 12 MVA and static excitation systems
- Vuzenica:
3 generators with a rated capacity of 26 MVA and static excitation systems.
All units were commissioned between 1998 and 2000. |
